Financials 101 Classroom
Course Description
Who Should Attend:This course is beneficial for Domestic Relations Section (DRS) workers seeking a more advanced application of concepts related to the financial subsystem. This offering may benefit employees who would like to enhance their understanding of financials or who have recently completed new hire training.
Overview and Focus:The focus of the course/workshop is to examine application of financial processes with the Pennsylvania Child Support Enforcement System (PACSES) and the special circumstances or exceptions that may occur.
- Processing information and special conditions or exceptions related to each topic will be presented in a short lecture format followed by a case study activity in which participants answer a series of questions using PACSES data.
- A pre/post test will be conducted to measure participant comprehension of material.
The primary topics addressed in the course/workshop are the following:
- Calculation of arrears for a newly entered obligation
- Maintenance of financial obligations
- Collection of support payments
- Distribution of support payments
- Disbursement of support payments
- Financial Holds
Through case studies, participants will examine how financial concepts are applied and how related data appears within PACSES.

Course Level
100 Level These courses provide in-depth instruction on each of the case management processes (i.e. Case Initiation, Locate, Paternity Establishment, Financials, Enforcement, Case Closure, etc) used in the Title IV-D Child Support Enforcement (CSE) Program. The courses vary in length from one to three days and are designed for less experienced CSE staff who require additional knowledge and understanding of individual CSE topics. The training is also appropriate for cross-training personnel in more than one CSE area of expertise.
