Course Description
Who Should Attend:Child support enforcement (CSE) workers who process cases requiring locate activity or workers who want to learn more about the Locate subsystem of the Pennsylvania Child Support Enforcement System (PACSES).
Overview and Focus:The focus of the course is on gaining knowledge of the Locate subsystem and how to use Locate procedures when pertinent member information is unknown. The curriculum includes relevant statutes and regulations, a discussion of the Locate subsystem of PACSES, the importance of Locate to other PACSES procedures, and the vital role CSE workers play in reviewing information and making decisions.
Topics Addressed:The primary topics addressed in the course will enable a CSE worker to:
- Apply regulations and statutes related to locate activities
- Explain the importance of safeguarding member information
- Identify and discuss automated interfaces, how they function, and what information they can provide to workers
- Explain how the auto-compare process is performed by PACSES when new address, employer, or demographic information is received during automated Locate
- Review the various mail alerts a locate worker receives
- Understand the importance of Locate to paternity establishment, support order establishment, financial processing, enforcement of support orders, and interstate case processing
- Assess the various suspense screens in PACSES and how to process the information contained on these screens
- Differentiate between discarding and deleting locate data
- Apply procedures for utilizing manual locate resources
- Identify and explain the information contained in the locate reports and address hold reports

Course Level
100 Level These courses provide in-depth instruction on each of the case management processes (i.e. Case Initiation, Locate, Paternity Establishment, Financials, Enforcement, Case Closure, etc) used in the Title IV-D Child Support Enforcement (CSE) Program. The courses vary in length from one to three days and are designed for less experienced CSE staff who require additional knowledge and understanding of individual CSE topics. The training is also appropriate for cross-training personnel in more than one CSE area of expertise.
