Course Description
Who Should Attend:This program is the introductory course for Child Support Enforcement (CSE) workers who have newly obtained access to the DPW/PACSES Data Warehouse (DW). The existing program has been revised to demonstrate navigating the DW environment using the Cognos 8 software; therefore, CSE workers who had taken this course prior to its revision are encouraged to reenroll.
Note: It is mandatory for participants to obtain authorization to use the DW before attending this course.
This one-day Data Warehouse (DW) course is the first in a series of offerings devoted to effective case management. The primary focus of the course is to provide class instruction and hands-on experience in navigating and creating customized reports in the DW using the Cognos 8 software.
Prior to attending this course, participants must view the PACSES TV "Data Warehouse" clips on the PACSES Home Page (PHP).
To be developed: A 300-level course focusing on the use and application of the DW.
The primary topics addressed in the course/workshop are the following:
- Describe the reports contained in the Data Warehouse (DW)
- Manipulate data using the various features of the DW
- Create customized reports
- Create individualized reports to be saved to the My Folders tab
- Export data into a Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet
- Obtain case details by running a drill through report

Course Level
200 Level These courses provide instruction on emerging issues, new policies, and policy updates. In addition, the courses provide advanced instruction in specific subject areas relating to each of the child support enforcement (CSE) case management processes. The courses vary in length from one to three days and are designed for more experienced CSE staff.
