Course Description
Who Should Attend:Child support enforcement (CSE) workers who process cases involving other counties within Pennsylvania and need an understanding of the Intrastate Family Support Act (IFSA) and venue rules.
Overview and Focus:The focus of the course is on helping the CSE worker to effectively manage support cases that involve members who reside in different counties within Pennsylvania. The curriculum includes the rules, regulations, statutes, Pennsylvania Child Support Enforcement System (PACSES) procedures, and best practices relevant to intrastate cases.
Topics Addressed:The primary topics addressed in the course will enable a CSE worker to:
- Effectively communicate a working knowledge of basic intrastate terminology
- Apply IFSA concepts to intrastate case processing
- Apply venue rules in processing intrastate cases
- Recognize intrastate cases in PACSES and process cases accordingly
- Define the difference between IFSA transfer and IFSA registration

Course Level
100 Level These courses provide in-depth instruction on each of the case management processes (i.e. Case Initiation, Locate, Paternity Establishment, Financials, Enforcement, Case Closure, etc) used in the Title IV-D Child Support Enforcement (CSE) Program. The courses vary in length from one to three days and are designed for less experienced CSE staff who require additional knowledge and understanding of individual CSE topics. The training is also appropriate for cross-training personnel in more than one CSE area of expertise.
