Course Description
Who Should Attend:Child support enforcement (CSE) workers who process cases involving other states and need to understand the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA).
Overview and Focus:The focus of the course is on helping the CSE worker to effectively manage support cases that involve other states. The curriculum includes the rules, regulations, statutes, Pennsylvania Child Support Enforcement System (PACSES) procedures, and best practices relevant to interstate cases.
Topics Addressed:The primary topics addressed in the course will enable a CSE worker to:
- Effectively communicate a working knowledge of basic interstate terminology
- Apply UIFSA concepts, including long-arm jurisdiction, controlling order, and continuing, exclusive jurisdiction (CEJ)
- Correctly process interstate cases in PACSES
- Evaluate and process information using the Child Support Enforcement Network (CSENet)

Course Level
100 Level These courses provide in-depth instruction on each of the case management processes (i.e. Case Initiation, Locate, Paternity Establishment, Financials, Enforcement, Case Closure, etc) used in the Title IV-D Child Support Enforcement (CSE) Program. The courses vary in length from one to three days and are designed for less experienced CSE staff who require additional knowledge and understanding of individual CSE topics. The training is also appropriate for cross-training personnel in more than one CSE area of expertise.
